On August 2nd 2010, Thirteen month old Gage was admitted to Kaiser Zion Hospital for Leukemia. Gage woke up in the morning with a 103 degree fever so we took him to his physician. His Doctor then called ahead for a bed at Kaiser Pediatrics in San Diego. The Doctors were certain upon the first blood results that is was Luekemia. We were all shocked and the whole family rushed down to find out what was going on.
The procedure for Leukemia is pretty well mapped out. Gage has had some pretty traumatic surgeries since and has fallen into the "rarely happens" category with blood infections and fevers. The Chemotherapy and Steroid procedure is designed to hit the Leukemia hard almost, "killing" the Bone Marrow. His treatment will take 3.5 years following remission. After 60 days, Gage's Oncologist said that he is testing negative for Leukemia as of his latest Marrow Surgery. Gage will be fighting off infections and Viruses for the next 6 months while his immune system is weak. He has had several blood transfusions and we expect many more before this is all over with.
If you are interested in following Gage's progress then please check the updates page for more day to day happenings. I will try to keep it updated regularly. Thanks for taking the time to show your support and read Gage's Website.
This site was created out of love for Gage by Catherine, her husband Logan and fellow Day Care Mom, Kelly.
